Pin the Spider on the Web Game – Free Printable & DIY Guide
Looking for a simple, exciting game that’s perfect for Halloween parties, classroom fun, or even a Spider-Man-themed event? Pin the Spider on the Web is a creative twist on the classic “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” that kids will absolutely love! I recently played this with my kids at a Halloween gathering, and their giggles as they tried to pin their spiders on the web were priceless. It’s easy to set up, keeps kids engaged, and brings out their playful side with just a few simple materials. Whether for a party or just an afternoon activity, this game is a winner!
Materials Needed
Before you start, gather these simple supplies:
✔ Printable Spider Web Game Board (or a hand-drawn one)
✔ Printable or DIY Spiders (stickers, cutouts, or mini toy spiders)
✔ Blindfold (a scarf or bandana works great)
✔ Double-sided tape or sticky tack
✔ Scissors (for cutting out the spiders if DIY)
✔ A prize for the winner (optional but fun!)
How to Play
1️⃣ Set Up the Game: Attach the spider web game board to a wall at an appropriate height for the kids.
2️⃣ Prepare the Spiders: Print and cut out spider cutouts, or use small sticky spiders. Each player gets one.
3️⃣ Blindfold the Player: One by one, blindfold each child and gently spin them around.
4️⃣ Pin the Spider! The player must try to place their spider as close to the center of the web as possible.
5️⃣ Find the Winner: The child who places their spider closest to the center of the web wins!
Fun Theme Variations
🎃 Halloween Edition: Use a spooky spider web with fun or creepy spiders.
🕷 Spider-Man Edition: Instead of a regular web, design a cityscape with Spider-Man swinging in the background!
🌟 Glow-in-the-Dark Edition: Use neon colors or glow-in-the-dark paint for a cool nighttime effect.
Game Board & Spider Sizes
For the best experience, consider these size recommendations:
✔ Spider Web Game Board: 18×24 inches (for small groups) or 24×36 inches (for larger groups)
✔ Spider Cutouts: Approximately 2-3 inches wide for easy handling
✔ Alternative: Resize based on available space or print multiple pages to create a larger board
🕷 Kinsey’s Tips for a Fun & Smooth Game!
✅ Use Reusable Spiders: Laminate the spider cutouts and use sticky tack instead of tape so you can play multiple times without making a mess.
✅ Make It a Team Challenge: If playing with a large group, split into teams and see which team gets the most spiders near the center.
✅ Add Sound Effects: Play spooky Halloween music or Spider-Man theme songs in the background to build excitement.
✅ Customize for Younger Kids: Instead of blindfolding younger children, have them close their eyes or take a few steps backward before placing the spider.
